Levcor has injected 67,000 square feet of industrial space into its Houston portfolio.

The local firm, led by president Larry Levine, has purchased 6700 Portwest Drive, in the city’s 610 Loop, from a subsidiary of London-based Intertek Group for an undisclosed amount, the Houston Business Journal reported

Edge Capital Markets brokers Kevin Holland and Britton Holland represented the seller, while Levcor’s Sasha Levine represented the buyer.

The property was valued at $7.8 million by the Harris Central Appraisal District last year.

Intertek, a provider of inspection and product testing services, occupies the entire property and intends to remain there following the acquisition. Levcor has expressed its commitment to enhancing the building’s exterior without plans for redevelopment.

“Paired with our commitment to meticulous maintenance and minor enhancements to the development, 6700 Portwest will continue to be a dynamic, creative and highly accessible building within the inner loop,” a Levcor spokesperson told the outlet.

The property is near the Washington corridor, with easy access to major transportation routes, including I-10, Loop 610 and the Katy Transit Center.

Built in 1987 on a 4-acre tract, 6700 Portwest features brick construction and a pavilion-style design, with oversized windows along the exterior façade. The property offers surface-level parking as well.

Levcor, a prominent player in Houston real estate since its founding in 1980, manages a diverse portfolio of commercial assets across the country. Its local holdings include 7800 Washington, a renovated office and retail development, and the Marq’E mixed-use complex, which recently underwent several upgrades such as a renovated movie theater, the outlet said.

Three home goods retailers — Arhaus Furniture, Kohler and Bassett Furniture — recently signed leases in Post Oak Plaza, another property the firm renovated.
