A 15,000-square-foot River Oaks mansion is an early contender for Houston’s priciest listing of the year.
The palatial estate at 3 Briarwood Court was listed for $27.5 million, more than $1,800 per square foot.
Compass broker Robert Bland is representing the seller, Neil Kelley, the co-founder and CEO of Saracen Energy Advisors.
It’s the priciest listing to hit the market this year, overtaking a $25 million estate in the East Texas town of Caney City.
The three-story home on Briarwood Court sits on 1.2-acres and has four bedrooms and six bathrooms, as well as a guest suite. The ground floor is anchored by a primary bedroom suite with a sitting room, sunroom and a marble bathroom with an outdoor shower. A library, wine room and wet bar round out the first floor. The upper levels feature a slew of entertainment spaces: a media room, billiards room, indoor golf room and a home gym.
It has a four-car garage and gated motor court, and the home is outfitted with a Savant smart home system.
Kelley purchased the property in 2010, and the home was completed in 2014, designed by local architecture firm Curtis and Windham. The Harris County Appraisal District assessed the property’s value at under $18 million last year.
Briarwood Court was the third priciest street in Houston in 2019, with an average home value approaching $6.2 million, according to Homes.com. The Houston Association of Realtors estimates homes on Briarwood Court have a median market value of $10.8 million. Homes on the street have an average age of 25 years.
Houston’s luxury market saw elevated interest in newer home builds last year. Homes priced over $10 million are also on the rise across the Texas Triangle, particularly in Houston.
Four Houston homes sold for over $10 million in 2022, and four eight-figure homes sold last year.
