A project that’s bigger and more expensive than the Star at Frisco begins construction in December.

The Mix is a $3 billion project along Frisco’s urban spine, the North Platinum Corridor. The 112-acre development will center on a 9-acre park designed by OJB, the landscape architects behind Klyde Warren Park.

StreetLights Residential, a partner in the development, breaks ground on the first 28 acres of the Mix, at Dallas Parkway and Lebanon Road, next month, according to a media release.

JLL and the Retail Connection are also partners in the development, along with OJB, architects Torti Gallas + Partners and CallisonRTKL and planning and engineering firm Kimley-Horn.

About 2 million square feet of office and medical space, 3 million square feet of residential, a 400-key business hotel, a 200-key boutique hotel and 375,000 square feet of retail, including a 40,000-square-foot grocery store, are planned for the Mix.

The Mix, in one of Texas’ fastest-growing suburbs, is designed as a Fitwel community. The central park will have an event lawn and performance pavilion, playgrounds, promenades and a pond.

“The Mix will offer Frisco a truly walkable community with gorgeous, natural landscapes featuring Texas flora and mature trees,” said Tim Campbell, head of The Mix, in the release.

The city of Frisco also recently approved the 2,500-acre mixed-use Fields development earlier this year, which will have single-family homes, high-density multifamily, office, retail, commercial and industrial products.
