A 36-acre listing in Bastrop offers a chance to get in on the development boom in the town that’s home to Elon Musk’s business empire and the future site of a movie studio.
Keller Williams has the listing at 1218 Lovers Lane that overlooks the Colorado River, according to Redfin. The asking price is $25.5 million or $708,000 per acre. The land is zoned for single-family residential development.
The listing is adjacent to the 546-acre site of Los Angeles-based film production company Line 204’s first Texas film studio. The project, called Bastrop 552, will feature six studios, office buildings, sound stages, a warehouse, storage units, a working ranch and a cafe, MySA reported.
The property is also about 10 miles from the headquarters for Elon Musk’s Boring Company, a Starlink factory and Hyperloop Plaza, a warehouse that features office and retail. The area is also home to Snailbrook, which has been billed as a Musk-created neighborhood. The DOGE operator and Trump righthand man owns at least 440 acres near Bastrop on either side of FM 1209.
Bastrop is a swiftly growing exurb about 35 miles east of Austin. The town’s population jumped from 97,230 in 2020 to 114,931 in 2024, an increase of 18.2 percent.
Its growth and the job opportunities offered by Musk’s companies and Bastrop 552 are attracting commercial development, too. Houston developer Pearl River Companies is planning a $300 million mixed-use project in Bastrop, the Houston Chronicle reported. Sendero will be built on 75 acres at the intersection of Texas Highway 21 and FM 969. The project is slated to include 782 multifamily units, a 120-key hotel and more than 250,000 square feet of retail.
