One of the nation’s most prolific home builders is ramping up its operations in Texas after moving its headquarters here.

Landsea Homes recently acquired more than 100 properties in the Austin area, where it’s also developing 800 single-family homes as part of a master-planned community, the Dallas Morning News reported

Landsea announced in March that it was relocating from Newport Beach, California, to Dallas. The firm now occupies a 7,700-square-foot space at 1717 McKinney Avenue in the city’s Uptown district.

In Liberty Hill, which is roughly 35 miles northwest of Austin, Landsea just bought 84 single-family home sites in a 688-acre master-planned community called Lariat. Landeas’s homes will range from 1,500 to 2,200 square feet, and model home construction is set to begin next summer.

The firm also acquired 38 lots at another master-planned community in Round Rock, just north of Austin. Landsea will contribute to the project, dubbed Avery Center, with the development of attached townhomes.

The company’s largest Austin-area project in the works is in Kyle, a fast-growing area south of the city. There, Landsea aims to deliver 880 single-family homes in a 1,500-home community called Freedom at Anthem.

Despite moving to Texas just recently, Landsea has been bullish on the Lone Star State for a while now. In 2021, the firm began selling homes in the New Braunfels-San Antonio area, priced between $895,000 and $1.2 million, the outlet said.

Landsea CEO John Ho cited Texas’ highly educated workforce and low cost of living as reasons for the move.
