A payroll processing firm is expanding its operations in Grapevine, shedding light on the real estate boom in Tarrant County.

Oklahoma City-based Paycom is adding to its Grapevine campus with the construction of a 4-story, 118,000-square-foot office building at 3489 State Highway 121, northeast of Fort Worth, the Dallas Morning News reported. The $27 million project is expected to open in 2025.

Last year, Paycom opened a 150,000-square-foot operations center at the site, housing 1,000 employees and filled with amenities like sports courts, ping-pong tables and mental health services. The firm acquired the land from the city, which provided $5 million in tax incentives.

The Grapevine campus is Paycom’s largest employment center outside of its 150-acre headquarters in the Oklahoma City area.

“We’ve invested heavily in Grapevine and plan to grow our roots here for decades to come,” Paycom CEO Chad Richison previously told the outlet.

The new building, designed by Oklahoma-based HSE Architects, is located across the street from Japanese tractor and equipment manufacturer Kubota’s North American headquarters.

As development activity continues to explode in Fort Worth, the city’s growth is starting to bleed into its surrounding suburbs, including Grapevine and other parts of Tarrant County.

Dallas-based Realty Capital Partners is one of the active developers in this area. The firm is building a 165-acre mixed-use development in Flower Mound, a town of about 77,000 people, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. The $2 billion project, set to be completed in 2024, will feature several residential towers, Class A office space, restaurants, a private social club, trails and an amphitheater.

Grapevine-based Maykus Homes is also ramping up its residential development plans in the area, with 150 single-family homes in the pipeline as of January.
