Texas dominates the top ten in a list ranking the most popular neighborhoods in the United States for home sales.

The list included Houston suburb Katy at No. 3, Central Texas’ New Braunfels at No. 4, Dallas suburb Forney at No. 5, Houston suburb Cypress at No. 7 and Austin suburb Leander at No. 9. First place went to Clarksville, Tennessee.

The 78641 zip code, which covers the western edge of Leander and part of the Balcones Canyonlands National Wildlife Refuge, the Austin Business Journal reported. Opendoor Labs’ Jan. 5 report, which only included cities where it operates, looked at the number of homes that went into contract within 90 days of coming onto the market. The same neighborhood ranked No. 2 in the nation last year.

Leander is one of the fastest-growing cities in the country. From 2010 to 2021, the population almost tripled, from 26,521 to 67,124, according to data from the U.S. Census Bureau.

“With its downtown district, Northline, starting development, Leander will continue to see even more activity with new restaurants, shops and public space offerings opening up,” Opendoor’s Chelsea Goyer told the outlet. “Leander is close to Texas Hill Country, so lakes, rivers and other natural amenities are also at your fingertips, while being only half an hour outside of Austin.

The Northline development, which is expected to serve as the city’s new downtown, is a 115-acre project that will bring millions of square feet of retail, office and housing to the area north of the CapMetro red line train station.

Ashley Jackson, the 2023 president of the Austin Board of Realtors, said the list reflects the trends real estate agents have seen.

The area “offers a very perfect suburban lifestyle, where you can get a beautiful newer home and tons of amenities from the builder that people love,” Jackson told the outlet. “Leander is one of the best places to do that. Cedar Park is pretty built out, and so once Cedar Park got built out everyone started eyeing Leander. It’s very well-serviced by highways, so you’ve got that connectivity to Austin, and you also even have the red line for Capital Metro that goes out to Leander. So all of those things appeal to today’s buyer.”
