One big-name ranch in Texas is under contract while another just north of the Red River has landed back on the market.

The 64,672-acre West Texas ranch of the late energy tycoon T. Boone Pickens is under contract after being listed for $170 million, the Dallas Morning News reported. The property, known as Mesa Vista Ranch, consists of land that Pickens spent decades assembling, highlighted by a large residential compound.

“Earlier this month we closed on the sale of nearly 27,700 acres of largely unimproved acreage at Mesa Vista Ranch, and have recently entered into a contract on the remaining 36,000-plus acres,” Jay Rosser, vice president of public affairs at BP Capital and a longtime associate of Pickens told the outlet.

Pickens, who died in 2019 at the age of 91, was one of America’s best-known entrepreneurs and known as the “Oracle of Oil.”

In Oklahoma, 70 miles north of Dallas-Fort Worth, the 744-acre ranch belonging to NFL Hall of Famer and Fox Sports analyst Terry Bradshaw has landed back on the market for $22.5 million after a deal fell through, the Dallas Business Journal reported.

“The buyer sadly failed to follow through, perform, fund and close the transaction,” Bernie Uechtritz, owner of Dallas-based real estate agency Icon Global Group, told the outlet. “So as of today, the entire ranch is back on the market, and it’s now not a matter of if it will sell, but to whom.”

The Love County ranch has been listed for sale for more than five years. The turnkey property would be ideal for a big player in the equestrian circuit as it is ready to be used as a cattle or private recreational ranch.
