The restaurant group behind the award-winning Che Fico will open a new full-service restaurant at Mission Rock, according to a press release from co-developers Tishman Speyer, the San Francisco Giants and the Port of San Francisco.

The lease is for 8,300 square feet in the northwest corner of Visa’s new global headquarters, and will feature a main dining room, full bar and private dining rooms, according to the release. The “new concept” is due to open in early 2025.

The CBRE team of Alex Sagues and Laura Barr represented Mission Rock Partners in the lease negotiations.

Tishman Speyer declined to comment further on the lease terms.

Back Home Hospitality was founded in 2015 by Matt Brewer and Chef David Nayfeld. They have two popular San Francisco Italian restaurants in the same building on the Divisadero corridor near Alamo Square — Che Fico on the top floor and below it the more casual Che Fico Alimentari wine bar. They opened Che Fico Parco Menlo at the Springline development from Presidio Bay this past fall in Menlo Park and also have a line of sauces and condiments sold nationwide.

“We know this new establishment will flourish at Mission Rock given the proven success of David and Matt’s existing locations and unique approach to hospitality,” said San Francisco Giants CEO Larry Baer in a statement.

Nayfeld said he hopes the new spot “will become one of the most iconic restaurant spaces in San Francisco.”

Last year, the Mission Rock developers announced that they had signed Proper Food, a more casual grab-and-go concept, for another slot at the base of the 13-story Visa building. Other restaurants due to open at the Mission Bay development this year include bakery Arsicault on the ground floor of an apartment tower, currently known as Building F, which topped out in June. The 100th outpost of Ike’s Love and Sandwiches will be in the life science office building, known as Building B.

In all, the initial group of restaurants and retail — which also includes LuxFit gym and Blades Co. Barbershop — will occupy more than 20,000 square feet on the ground floors of Mission Rock’s first four buildings, which rise out of a former Giants parking lot across from Oracle Park.
