A 2022 Napa vintage just fetched $34 million, a million off of its initial asking price.
The Seven Stones Estate and Winery just sold at 840 Meadowood Lane in St. Helena, marking Wine Country’s priciest listed sale of the year, the San Francisco Business Times reported.
The seller was the family of the late Ronald Wornick, who with his wife Anita bought the award-winning vineyard in 1995.
The unidentified buyer is “a multinational corporation with a significant U.S. presence,” Damian Archbold, a Compass broker who shared the listing with Steve Mavromihalis, told the newspaper.
The 45-acre estate includes a 6,600-square-foot main residence with an elaborate art collection, pool guest house, barn, workshop, vineyard and winery. It sits behind the gates of Meadowood resort. It listed in 2019 for $35 million, according to The Press Democrat.
Seven Stones, which takes advice from celebrity winemaker Aaron Pott, is the smallest boutique winery in Napa Valley, and now seeks to double the size of its vineyard.
It was named for the Seven Stones sculpture that welcomes guests, and has numerous sculptures across its grounds.
The sale included a main house with an eat-in chef’s kitchen, formal dining room, wet bar, wine cellar and a three-car garage.
It came with a poolside guesthouse with a litwo bedrooms, a two-car garage and outdoor kitchen, plus a one-bedroom property manager’s cottage with a landscaped backyard and a hot tub.
There’s a woodworking studio with an office and a 900-square-foot barn.
In addition to the cabernet sauvignon and cabernet franc vineyards, Seven Stones Estate and Winery has a 15-acre olive grove and fruit orchard, vegetable garden and cutting garden. It features several terraces, an outdoor kitchen, a heated pool, spa and a bocce ball court.
The on-site winery produces about 300 to 400 cases of wine per year.
In September, a 34-acre vineyard estate and 11,000-square-foot mansion built and owned by former AOL CEO Barry Schuler in Napa listed for $35 million.
