A lot of new housing is coming to Alameda.

Los Angeles-based Landsea Homes is bringing 182 townhomes to multiple neighborhoods at the Alameda Marina. Over the past ten years, the city of Alameda has made plans to redevelop the Northern Waterfront and transform it from industrial into a mixed-use and residential district.

Island View at Alameda Marina will include 98 homes with seven different floor plans ranging from 1,462 square feet to 2,386 square feet. Waterside at Alameda Marina will include 84 homes with four floor plans ranging from 2,161 square feet to 2,689 square feet. Homes will include four bedrooms and options for three-and-a-half to four bathrooms.

All the homes will include a porch with a deck, and a view of the marina. 15 percent of the homes will be offered under the county of Alameda’s affordable housing program. Homes are expected to come up for sale early next year.

Alameda Marina plans to transform the 43-acre parcel into a mixed-use development. Plans call for 760 housing units, 104 of them affordable; and 150,000 square feet of commercial space.

The owner of the parcel, Pacific Development, is leading the development along with a group of developers, which include Landsea, called Alameda Marina LLC. Along with the Landsea townhomes, Pacific Development will be breaking ground on a 368-unit project in the coming months.

Residential units are not the only development project happening in Alameda. Blue Rise Ventures, the owner of the Research Park at Marina Village in Alameda, has unveiled plans for a life sciences building on the last developable parcel on the northeast corner of the city. Plans call for a 120,000-square-feet campus for research and development.
