The recent round of layoffs at Compass hasn’t meant across-the-board cuts in San Francisco, where the brokerage has hired Coldwell Banker Global Luxury’s Pacific Heights branch manager less than a year after he came aboard from a real estate legal practice.
Arthur Meirson will be a sales manager for Compass’ flagship San Francisco office near Ghirardelli Square, according to a press release.
Before coming to Coldwell last fall, Meirson was a real-estate attorney for 10 years at Goldstein, Gellman, Melbostad, Harris & McSparran. Meirson said during that time he got to know many of the agents he will be working with at Compass.
Compass also announced the internal promotion of long-time agent Christine Schoen to be the sales manager of its Castro neighborhood office on Market Street.
The recent additions at Compass––the biggest agency in the Bay Area by––follow the departures of several of its high-profile South Bay agents to competing firms. In February, Christie’s took a luxury team responsible for $250 million in sales to open its office in Menlo Park. In April, The Agency picked up a former Compass sales manager for its push into Silicon Valley.
