An entity managed by Jonathan Ratner paid $44.8 million for a 20,000-square-foot estate in the Silicon Valley enclave of Atherton, marking the priciest sale in at least three years in the nation’s most expensive zip code.

The home, at 119 Tuscaloosa Ave. sold for $35.3 million in 2015. Both prices are well below the area record of $53 million from September 2011. Ratner’s LLC, Sunshine Blossoming, was listed as the buyer in state property records. A person named Jonathan Ratner is a managing director at Madison Capital.

Built in 2015, the three-level home was designed by Arcanum Architecture and landscaping was handled by Studio Green. Spread across almost 2 acres, it has seven bedrooms and 11 bathrooms as well as a full guest house, with white oak floors and steel sash doors. Amenities include two offices, a recreation room, gym, theater, full bar, wine cellar and pool cabaña, SFGATE reported in 2015.

Atherton, where the median price for a home is $7.5 million, was the most expensive zip code last year for a fifth straight year, CNBC reported, citing PropertyShark data. Residents include Google Cofounder Sergey Brin, former Google CEO Eric Schmidt, WhatsApp founder Jan Koum and Golden State Warriors basketball star Steph Curry.

A Versailles-inspired home in Atherton sold for $22 million earlier this year, 11 days after it listed. Mervin Morris, founder of Mervyn’s department stores, bought the property in 2000 for $6.5 million, $1 million more than the asking price, because he planned to raze it to build his French chateau-style home. He told the owner, interior designer Sue Olson, that he would salvage any materials she wanted.
