Chicago Bears linebacker Khalil Mack got a nice Christmas gift this year — the former Raider’s East Bay home went into contract on December 24 after only a week on the market, according to public records.

Mack stands to make a sizable profit on the four-bedroom, 4.5-bath San Ramon home, which he bought in 2015 for $1,725,000 and listed for $2,880,000, according to Realtor.com. It likely sold for well over the listing price given the short marketing period, which is quick even by Bay Area rapid-fire sales standards.

The Raiders selected Mack as a first-round draft pick in 2014. He was traded to the Bears in 2018 and signed a six-year, $141 million contract extension, which made him the highest-paid defensive player at the time.

In November, the Bears revealed that the six-time Pro Bowler would be out for the rest of the season due to a foot injury in a Week 3 game against Cleveland that requires surgery. Being sidelined seems to have given Mack some time to assess his real estate holdings, like his 2013 house on nearly an acre in San Ramon’s gated Norris Canyon Estates community. The 3,600-square-foot home has a three-car garage and views of the hills and city lights.

Mack also recently sold the suburban Chicago mansion he bought when he was first traded to the Bears, though for a much smaller profit. It closed for $3.9 million at the end of November after listing at $5 million in June and taking a price cut to $4.65 million in September, according to the Chicago Tribune. He paid $3.75 million in 2018 and was its first owner. In March, Mack bought a three-bedroom condo on the 28th floor of a high rise on Chicago’s Gold Coast for $6,850,000.

Mack wasn’t the only celeb to take advantage of the “ferocious” market in the Bay Area to sell off their underutilized properties at the end of last year. In September, Carlos Santana sold his Marin home for $5,530,000, and in October Sharks star Evander Kane sold his San Jose for $3,400,000.
