An ornate Pacific Heights mansion that has stood on the corner of Broadway and Pierce Street for more than a century is back on the market, asking $17 million.
The 7,045-square-foot home, which — according to marketing and water department records — was commissioned in 1894, underwent renovations in the ‘90s, which increased its floor area by nearly 40 percent, SFGate reported. It last sold in 2012 for $8.2 million.
The six-bedroom home features five bathrooms and two half bathrooms across four floors. Renovation work by architect Houman Sharif and designer Kendall Wilkinson preserved period details from the era in which the house was built, such as wainscoting and woodwork, but incorporated modern features in the kitchens and bathrooms.
The main level of the home features a formal dining room, living and family rooms and a large chef’s kitchen, according to the listing. The second floor includes four of the bedrooms and three bathrooms, including a master bedroom suite with a spacious dressing room and walk-in closet.
The bottom floor of the home — accessible via both stairs and elevator — includes a wine cellar, two more bedrooms, one and half bathrooms and a three-car garage. A playroom opens to a sizable-but-cozy landscaped backyard.
The top level of the home is an open-plan lounge equipped with a wet bar and bathroom. In addition to the skylights above and large windows showing views of the Bay and Alcatraz Island, the floor also features a walk-out roof deck.
The home was sold in 2012 for $8.215 million — less than half of the current asking price.
