The Nassau County District Attorney’s office charged an attorney for allegedly stealing more than $700,000 from a pair of real estate deals.

Daniel Boldi of Garden City is facing two felony counts of second-degree grand larceny, Newsday reported. Boldi faces 5 to 15 years in prison if convicted on both counts, according to a release from the DA’s office.

Boldi pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The DA’s office received multiple complaints regarding Boldi’s alleged conduct. The accused owned and operated his own law firm, Boldi Law Group, P.C, according to Patch.

Last Halloween, Boldi served as a bank’s attorney for a couple’s East Meadow home sale, prosecutors allege. Boldi was supposed to transfer more than $300,000 to the couple’s mortgage lender to pay off the rest of their debt, but failed to do so, despite allegedly procuring a document showing he made the transfer.

That couple is still making mortgage payments on a home they no longer own due to Boldi’s actions, according to the DA’s office.

Two weeks after allegedly fleecing that couple, Boldi represented a buyer in the purchase of a home in Valley Stream. The $380,000 check he presented to the seller allegedly bounced, however, and the buyer’s lenders funds were never released.

Bank records reveal Boldi spent the funds from the real estate transactions on other things, including a $687,000 payment to sellers in an unrelated transaction, according to prosecutors.

In a statement, Boldi’s attorney said, “I haven’t had a chance to review the evidence since I am in receipt of only the allegations but in terms of those, if proven, my client’s intention is to pay back the money.”

Boldi was released on his own recognizance. His next court date is set for Apr. 25. The investigation is ongoing.
