After six seasons as a reality series centered on roommate dynamics, local officials added zoning drama to the latest premiere of Bravo’s “Summer House.”

The occupants were barred from using four of the nine bedrooms positioned in the Water Mill home after inconsistency was flagged in the home’s documents prior to filming, Behind the Hedges reported

The code enforcement department inspected the 6,500-square-foot home at 2136 Deerfield Road after realizing the film permit application listed nine bedrooms, but the rental permit and certificate of occupancy only allowed for five. The department contacted the LLC who owns the filming property to fix the problem.

A gym was installed on the first floor where “offices” were listed, which may have been illegal bedrooms. On the second floor, Water Mill Town Code Compliance and Emergency Management Administrator Ryan Murphy also noted an office and closet, which he told the outlet may have been another spot for an illegal bedroom to crop up.

To accommodate the baker’s dozen of rotating housemates, producers instead added beds to some of the property’s larger rooms. Viewers of the Season 7 premiere last week saw cast members take in the shuffle from the house’s previous arrangements.

“The Hamptons: Known for old money, also old laws,” Kyle Cooke said during the show. “Our house just so happens to be zoned for five bedrooms — not nine.”

“So, welcome to camp,” Cooke said.

The Bravo series has a history of alienating neighbors since its 2017 debut. The show has been banned from filming at several businesses in the East End and was denied a film permit by East Hampton Town in its first year. In 2018, new neighbors became disgruntled after learning the show would be filming only after notices were distributed, and not when they had made their home purchases.
