The Everything Store is getting pushback for its plans to open a 91,000-square-foot distribution center at Westhampton’s Francis S. Gabreski Airport.

Some village residents worry that the Amazon hub would greatly increase air traffic, creating a disruptive environment, according to the New York Post.

“I’m already hearing airplanes when I sit outside by the pool in the summer,” one resident told the paper. “Can you imagine if Amazon is here?”

Amazon wants to open the distribution center at a warehouse that Plainview-based developer Rechler Equity Partners is building on airport land. The firm received $2.3 million in tax breaks to build the $36 million facility.

Robert Trotta, a Suffolk County legislator, is against the construction and accuses Rechler of misleading the county to secure the tax breaks. Amazon is active elsewhere on Long Island as well. [NYP] — Dennis Lynch
