Days after a man was found dead on the side of the Clearview Express near Union Turnpike in Queens, he was identified as a long-time real estate agent in the area.

On Friday, police identified 57-year-old Emmanuel Moncoeur, Gothamist reported. The New York Police Department is investigating Moncoeur’s death as a homicide. His decomposing body showed signs of blunt force trauma to his head, while his hands were also bound, according to the NYPD.

No suspects were immediately identified by the police. He was discovered on Tuesday morning by a motorist who had pulled over near an exit with car trouble, according to PIX 11.

Moncoeur was a real estate sales and sponsoring manager for eXp Realty, according to his LinkedIn page. Valery Pierre, who shared a Glendale apartment with Moncoeur, told Gothamist that the two were close, mentioning they had deals together and Moncoeur once saved Pierre’s investment.

OneKey MLS and eXp Realty did not respond to The Real Deal’s requests for comment.

Moncoeur’s brother, Renel Saint-Amour, told Gothamist that he was unaware of any major safety concerns harbored by Moncoeur. He initially assumed Moncoeur was not picking up phone calls because he was making an annual trip to his family’s hometown in Haiti.

This is perhaps the most gruesome death within the tri-state real estate community since 2023, when a New Jersey real estate agent was beaten to death with a baseball bat in her home in Cresskill. Irma Daniels’ stepson was charged with murder, hindering apprehension and unlawful weapons position.
