Official is setting up shop in Aspen.

The brokerage, co-founded in 2022 by former top Douglas Elliman brokers Oren and Tal Alexander and backed by white-label company Side, is opening an office in the Colorado ski town this month and stacking it with a team of six local agents.

Of the markets where the firm operates, “the one we felt had the most demand and really needed our support, where clients needed us in, was Aspen,” said co-founder Oren Alexander.

Among those joining Official’s slope-side outpost are mother-son duo Leah and Walker Moriarty, Jamay Shook and Peter Grenney, all formerly with Aspen Snowmass Sotheby’s International Realty, and Alain Azizi, previously with Global Real Estate Group.

The new additions will bring all of their listings with them to the firm, according to Official’s co-founder and CEO Richard Jordan. The brokerage is also operating in New York, the Hamptons, Miami, Los Angeles, Orange County and the Bahamas.

The Aspen agents will bring the brokerage’s total headcount to 64, with most of agents concentrated in New York, Miami and Los Angeles.

Official is the latest firm to set up camp in the luxury destination, following some national names.

Compass launched operations in Aspen in 2016 and most recently added Tom Postilio and Mickey Conlon, former Elliman agents known for working with celebrity clients in New York. The agents who joined the firm last month to launch a new team and expand their business to Aspen, as well as Nashville and Austin.

Los Angeles-based brokerage The Agency opened its Aspen office, headed by Heather Sinclair and Chris Flynn, in 2019, a year after Christie’s International Real Estate established an affiliate in the mountain town.

Tal and Oren Alexander left Elliman to launch Official in 2022, along with co-founders Jordan, Nicole Oge and Andrew Wachtfogel — all former executives with Elliman’s new development, marketing and research teams.

The Alexander brothers sold real estate in Aspen before their departure from Elliman, which expanded to the market with the acquisition of a local firm in 2014.

Official ranked seventh in The Real Deal’s ranking of the top brokerages in Manhattan in 2023 with $260 million in sales across 33 deals.

Among Official’s listings in the city are the Adam Neumann’s Gramercy Park penthouse, asking $30 million, and a penthouse at 432 Park, asking $33 million.

In Miami, the brokerage is heading sales at Michael Stern’s Dolce & Gabbana condo tower and Michael Shvo’s Rosewood-branded condos at the Raleigh in Miami Beach.

The firm is soon planning to shift its focus to Palm Beach, with plans to open an office later this year, Jordan said.
