The Gray Lady is establishing a foothold in Queens.

The New York Times Company has signed a lease for roughly 58,000 square feet across three floors at Court Square Place in Long Island City in a deal brokered by JRT Realty Group, the real estate company announced on Tuesday.

The Times plans to relocate 350 employees from its Manhattan headquarters at 620 Eighth Avenue to its new location in Queens. It will occupy the ninth, 10th and 11th floors of the building for 15 years, and the deal means Court Square Place, located at 24-01 44th Road, is now completely occupied.

Robert Mitchell of Byrnam Wood represented the New York Times in the deal, and Greg Smith and Lauren Calandriello of JRT represented the owners, United Nations Federal Credit Union.

Smith said in a statement that, “The New York Times’ arrival is a prime example [of] the area’s broadening appeal to diverse companies.”

Amazon in February abandoned its plans to establish part of its second headquarters in Long Island City, but the tech giant is still on the hunt for warehouse space in the borough, as well as in Brooklyn.
