Daniel Tishman, vice chairman at Tishman Realty & Construction, will receive the Harry B. Helmsley Distinguished New Yorker Award at the Real Estate Board of New York’s 123rd annual gala in January.
“Dan is a major force in propelling the green-building movement to the forefront of the construction industry,” REBNY chairman Bill Rudin said. “He’s a tireless advocate for the city, and like Harry Helmsley he cares deeply about what’s best for our future.”
Tishman noted that when his family arrived in America in 1895, REBNY was already in existence.
“We’re celebrating our 121st year, just a couple years behind REBNY,” he said, noting how long members of his family had been involved in the organization.
REBNY will hold its annual banquet Jan. 17 at the Hilton hotel in Midtown on Sixth Avenue.
Other honorees at the event will include Halstead Real Estate CEO Diane Ramirez, who will receive the Bernard H. Mendik Lifetime Leadership in Real Estate Award. Carol Kellerman, president of the Citizens Budget Commission government watchdog group, will receive the John. E Zuccotti Public Service Award, and Durst Organization principal Helena Durst will receive the Kenneth R. Gerrety Humanitarian Award.
REBNY will present Webb & Brooker president Bernard Warren with the George M. Brooker Management Executive of the Year Award, and HSP Real Estate Group partner Ira Fishman with the Louis Smadbeck Memorial Broker Recognition Award.
Bernstein Real Estate Group executive vice president Alex Bernstein will receive the Young Real Estate Professional of the Year Award.
