A pair of NYCHA staff members have been suspended from the Throggs Neck Houses as part of an investigation into sex parties and alcohol consumption at the mismanaged development.

Grounds supervisor Brianne Pawson and caretaker Tayron Hazel have both been suspended without pay for 30 days, according to the New York Daily News. NYCHA supervisors and caretakers at the Bronx development have been accused of having orgies in one of the project’s groundskeeper shops.

Management at NYCHA learned about the issue in May and told the Department of Investigation they were looking into it in June. NYCHA general manager Vito Mustaciuolo reassigned all Throggs Neck staffers to other developments last Friday.

NYCHA and Mayor Bill de Blasio agreed to a consent decree with federal prosecutors in June that appointed a federal monitor to the city’s public housing system. Geoffrey Berman, U.S. attorney for Manhattan, filed a complaint saying that NYCHA managers lied and failed to deal with lead paint and toxic mold issues for years. [NYDN] – Eddie Small
