WeWork’s head of real estate may bang the drum for co-living, but when it comes to his personal abode he prefers a co-op.
Mark Lapidus and his wife Cari just laid out $2.8 million for a three-bed co-op on the Upper East Side, property records filed with the city Tuesday show.
The Lapiduses bought the pad, which has a formal dining room and an outside double staff room, at 120 East 79th Street from the cardiologist Howard Levite, who had purchased the home in 2002, records show.
A representative for Lapidus was not immediately available for comment.
Lapidus joined the co-working giant as head of real estate in 2012 after meeting company cofounder Adam Neumann at a wedding.
He was involved with launching WeWork’s [TRDataCustom] first two co-living locations at 110 Wall Street and another in Washington, D.C.
He also comes from a real estate family, which earlier this year sold a ground lease on a property it owns in the Flatiron District with Samco Properties to Madison Realty Capital for $85 million.
Faith Fisher Einhorn of Douglas Elliman represented the sellers in the deal.
