Two Trees receives 87K applications for 104 affordable units at Domino Sugar’s first residential building

325 Kent is set to open in July

Two Trees Management received nearly 840 applications for every affordable apartment at 325 Kent, the first building to open at its 11-acre Domino Sugar site in Williamsburg.

The developer announced Tuesday that it launched leasing at the 522-unit, 16 story SHoP-designed rental tower overlooking the East River. Two Trees, led by Jed Walentas, said it received 87,000 applications for 104 affordable units in the building.

Clinton Hill-based eatery Mekelburg’s recently signed on as the anchor retail tenant in the building, which is scheduled to open in July.

Two Trees [TRDataCustom] also broke ground on the site’s second residential building, 260 Kent which will have 330 rental units, more than 20 percent of which will be set aside as affordable housing.

When complete, the $3 billion Domino Sugar project will comprise 2,800 residential units and 500,000 square feet of commercial space. – Rich Bockmann
