Telecom hotshot Dexter Goei has been thinking big of late. In June, the Netherlands-based company he heads bought Cablevision for $17.7 billion. And a month earlier, Goei stealthily bought a five-story multifamily building in Greenwich Village with plans to convert it into a megamansion.
Property documents show that it was Goei, using an LLC, who purchased the 11,000-square-foot Greenwich Village property on West 11th Street for $31 million in May from Enrique and Katherine Alonso, both top executives at SJP Properties [TRDataCustom]. The couple bought the property for $19 million in 2014 and planned to restore the 10-unit multifamily building to two separate townhouses, which had been its original design.
The building isn’t far from Sarah Jessica Parker’s proposed megamansion at 273-275 West 11th Street. Parker bought the two adjacent townhouses for $34.5 million in June.
Goei’s renovation is estimated to cost $1.3 million (which sounds low) and the architect of record is Arcologica.
