RXR Realty is moving its headquarters from 1330 Sixth Avenue to a 15,000-square-foot space at the newly-renovated 75 Rockefeller Plaza, which RXR controls through a ground lease.
William Elder, an executive vice president at RXR [TRDataCustom], told the Commercial Observer that the company was moving because of a “space crunch.” It’s currently leasing 9,000 square feet, or about half of the fifth floor at 1330 Sixth Avenue, a 40-story tower located between West 53rd and West 54th streets that it also owns.
The Scott Rechler-led firm is moving to the 14th floor of the 33-story 75 Rock, which is between West 51st and West 52nd streets. Asking rent for the space is between $113 and $119 a foot, Elder told CO. RXR is slated to move in by the end of this year or early next year.
Other future tenants at the 623,000-square-foot tower include Merrill Lynch, and retail tenant American Girl, which took 40,000 square feet of space on the ground and concourse levels
RXR took control of 75 Rock in 2013 when it signed a 99-year ground lease on the property from British billionaire Mohamed Al Fayed, who retains ownership of the fee interest. [CO] — Chava Gourarie
