Tony Chen files plans for 12-story Flushing mixed-use building

The 87K sf property will feature resi, commercial and community components

Landlord Tony Chen is planning a 12-story, 87,100-square-foot mixed-use building in Flushing, according to plans filed with the Department of Buildings on Tuesday.

The building at 133-49 37th Avenue will feature 32 apartments and will span 36,000 square feet of residential space and 36,000 square feet of commercial space. There will also be 15,000 square feet available for a community facility. Flushing-based TL Engineering is the applicant of record, the filing shows. It’s not clear if the apartments will be condominiums or co-ops.

The site includes a parcel at 133-49 37th Avenue, which currently houses a two-story warehouse, along with an adjacent parcel at 133-47 37th Avenue. Property records show Chen purchased the warehouse in 1987, and that he bought the vacant parcel next door in 1995.

Tony Chen, who is affiliated with Realport Corp LLC, is the chief executive of Flushing-based import company United Imports.

Chen declined to comment. Representatives for TL Engineering were not immediately available.
