A local politician urged Cammeby’s International Group to talk to local residents about its Coney Island megadevelopment.

Kate Cucco, who is running for a State Assembly seat, said residents are concerned about the new building’s height and fear that toxins could enter the ground.

“After talking with hundreds of concerned residents in the area, it became clear to me that too many question marks remain about what is exactly in store with this development,” Cucco said at a press conference this week.

Rubin Schron’s Cammeby’s plans to build a 40-story apartment tower at 532 Neptune Avenue, near the housing complex Trump Village, and expects construction to begin in the fall. The firm already began work on an adjacent seven-story, 161,000-square-foot retail and commercial building at 626 Sheepshead Bay Road, which it expects to complete in mid-2017.

The company recently razed a shopping center to make way for the tower.  In October, The Real Deal reported that two of Schron’s sons are taking an increasing role in the family company.  [Brooklyn Eagle]Konrad Putzier
