Versace’s UES mansion price chopped to $65K a month

Late designer's former digs at 5 East 64th Street had been asking $120K a month

The Upper East Side mansion once owned by Gianni Versace hit the market in April asking $120,000-a-month — a price as over-the-top as the late designer’s clothing. But after a 54 percent markdown, the sprawling house is slightly more in touch with reality.

The 14,000-square-foot townhouse, at 5 East 64th Street, is now asking $65,000 a month, Curbed reported.

The mansion is owned by Swedish hedge fund manager Thomas Sandell, who shelled out $30 million for the property in 2005. At 35-feet wide, it spans nearly 14,000 square feet and has six stories, 17 rooms — five of which are bedrooms — as well as a balcony running along the width of the house.

The house comes fully furnished with Versace-inspired velvet seating, marble and gold detailing. Corcoran Group’s [TRData] Deborah Grubman, David Albano and Paul Albano have the listing. [Curbed]E.B. Solomont
