VIDEO: This floating park is finally coming to NYC

Construction on 2.7-acre park on the Hudson River to start this summer

Pier55, the park that will float above the Hudson River, is slated to start construction this summer, after receiving approval from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

The 2.7-acre park was funded by the Hudson River Park Trust, led Barry Diller and Diane Von Fürstenberg, which put up $113 million for the project. Diller and Von Fürstenberg (who also contributed $35 million to the High Line), have since faced accusations of creating a “vanity project” and not allowing for enough public comment on the project.
