Brenda Powers’ lap of the brokerage buffet table appears to have come to an end.

The Sotheby’s International Realty veteran has returned to the firm, two months after jumping to Compass and later inking a deal to move to Town Residential.

“I’m thrilled to be back home,” Powers told The Real Deal. “It was clear to me that the reach and resources of Sotheby’s International Realty are unrivaled.”

Insiders said Powers had inked a contract at Town earlier this month but never actually moved her license onto the company’s books.

“We were so pleased to have worked with Brenda throughout this process and wish the timing had been right,” said Wendy Maitland, president of sales at Town. “We wish her only the best and hope that our paths cross again.”

Powers first announced that she was jumping to Compass in March in a move to expand her business nationally. Because of Sotheby’s licensing rules, she had been unable to obtain a Florida broker’s license, which would have helped her cater to longtime clients who were migrating south, she said at the time.

Soon after, a spokesperson for Compass said the firm had “disassociated” itself with Powers, but declined to comment on the reasons behind her dismissal.

TRD reported on her move to Town earlier this month. She’d been slated to work out of the company’s office at 730 Fifth Avenue.

Powers’ departure from Sotheby’s had meant the end of a longtime partnership between Powers and Elizabeth Sample, who started out working together at the Corcoran Group in the early 1990s and are also a couple. Together, they sold hundreds of millions of dollars worth of luxury real estate, including a handful of units at the Time Warner Center.

The pair is now expanding its team, adding model Dara Tomanovich to the ranks.
