UPDATED, April 6, 3:00 p.m.: New York-based development firm Sumaida + Khurana and developer LENY are planning a 34-story condominium tower in Hell’s Kitchen.

The building at 611 West 56th Street will have 80 apartments spanning 123,262 square feet of residential space, and 3,835 square feet of retail on the ground floor, according to a permit application filed with the Department of Buildings Wednesday.

Three units will be on the second floor, six on each of the third through seventh floors and two duplexes across the eighth and ninth floors, according to the filing.

There will be two units on each of the 10th through 12th floors and 14th through 31st floors. Each of the 32nd through 34th floors will have a single full-floor apartment, the filing shows.

Currently, there is a three-story building and six-story building at the lot between 11th and 12th avenues.

John Catsimatidis, grocery store magnate and former mayoral candidate, acquired the site in 2001 for an undisclosed price, according to city property records. In February 2015, he sold both buildings — at 609 West 56th Street and adjacent 823 11th Avenue — to Sumaida + Khurana for $55 million, according to a Catsimatidis spokesperson.

The sale has yet to close, and the permit application filed with the DOB still lists Catsimatidis as the owner.

Pritzker Prize-winning Portuguese architect Álvaro Siza designed the project.

SLCE Architects, which is serving as architect on the project, was not immediately available for comment.

This post was updated to reflect that Sumaida + Khurana and LENY are developing the condominium tower, not Catsimatidis. Catsimatidis was listed as the owner on the DOB filing.
