Sean Ludwick arrested for allegedly plotting to flee US

BlackHouse Development chief facing vehicular homicide, manslaughter charges

Sean Ludwick

Sean Ludwick, the developer charged with vehicular homicide in the death of a Douglas Elliman broker, was arrested Tuesday after authorities foiled his attempt to allegedly flee the U.S.

The BlackHouse Development chief was nabbed by federal marshals Tuesday at his Bridgehampton home, the New York Post reported, after plotting an escape to South America while on vacation in Puerto Rico.

He appeared in Suffolk County court Wednesday, where his $1 million bond was revoked, the newspaper reported. Ludwick is awaiting trial for the death of Elliman broker Paul Hansen, who died in August after Ludwick crashed his car in Sag Harbor while under the influence of alcohol. Hansen was a passenger in the car.

Ludwick reportedly told his sailing instructor in Puerto Rico about his plan to go to South America, which led to the instructor tipping off authorities and a warrant being issued for Ludwick’s arrest, according to the Post.

The developer was indicted last month on nine criminal charges, including three counts of aggravated vehicular homicide, one count each of first-degree and second-degree vehicular homicide, one count of leaving the scene of an accident and one count of driving while intoxicated.

Catherine Hansen, Paul Hansen’s widow, filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the developer in October. On Facebook, she posted about Ludwick: “You can run but you will be caught. A–hole.” [NYP] — Rey Mashayekhi
