48-year-old crashed Lamborghini into utility pole in Long Island on Sunday

Glen Nelson – the founder, chair and CEO of commercial and residential development firm Matrix Realty Group – died Sunday after crashing his car into a utility pole in Long Island, according to reports.

The 48-year-old Nelson was driving his Lamborghini Murcielago in the Long Island town of Port Jefferson when it swerved off the road and slammed into the pole. Emergency services crews rushed to the scene and took Nelson to St. Charles Hospital in Port Jefferson, where he was pronounced dead.

There were no other vehicles or injuries involved in the accident, according to the Daily Mail. Suffolk County Police are investigating the cause of the crash.

Nelson co-founded Long Island-based Matrix Realty Group, a real estate investment and management company with holdings throughout the U.S., in 1993.

The company’s properties include suburban office parks in Connecticut, Alabama and Long Island, according to its website, as well as residential communities across the country.
