Elliman broker’s widow files wrongful death suit against Sean Ludwick

Catherine Hansen says Blackhouse chief was "careless, reckless and negligent."

The widow of Douglas Elliman Broker Paul Hansen filed a wrongful death suit in Suffolk County against Sean Ludwick, claiming the BlackHouse Development executive owes her and her two young sons financial restitution for the alleged drunk driving crash that killed her husband in late August.

Attorneys for Catherine Hansen filed the suit in Suffolk County Supreme Court on Oct. 23, according to records filed Thursday.

In legal filings, Hansen said that she and her two young sons lost “guidance, nurture, emotional and financial support, companionship, society and services” when Ludwick “negligently” sped and crashed his 2013 Porsche convertible into a utility pole just feet from Hansen’s Sag Harbor home, partially ejecting Hansen.

Ludwick allegedly dragged the broker’s body to the side of the road before fleeing the scene. Police tracked Ludwick’s busted vehicle a few blocks away and found the embattled Manhattan developer wobbling and smelling of alcohol, authorities said.

It’s not clear what Catherine is seeking in financial damages, but the lawsuit claims she and her sons “have been damaged in a sum which exceeds the jurisdictional limits of any other Court in which this action could have been brought.”

Ludwick is due back in courNov. 24 on charges of DWI and leaving the scene of an accident. He remains out on bail.
