Queens may not be the new Manhattan or even yet the new Brooklyn, but with luxury condominium units in Long Island City fetching upwards of $5 million, maybe it doesn’t have to be.

The owner of the borough’s most expensive listing, a penthouse at 46-30 Center Boulevard, accepted an offer for the deluxe three-bedroom unit, which features a wraparound terrace and cathedral ceilings. The apartment was asking $5.4 million, but the expected sale price was not disclosed to the New York Daily News.

The deal hasn’t been finalized, but through a special arrangement with the owner, taxi mogul Basil Messados, the buyers have already moved in, the newspaper reported.

Silvette Julian of Nest Seekers International had the listing. Messados bought the unit in 2009, paying $2.5 million.

The high price remains in an anomaly in Queens, where the median apartment price was just $385,001 in the second quarter of 2015, according to a recent report. [NYDN]Ariel Stulberg
