WeWork, arguably New York’s hottest startup, leased the most space in the city in the first half of 2015.
In total, the shared workspace provider inked leases for 549,438 square feet, according to Crain’s. Manhattan now has 15 operating WeWork spaces. New locations in the Financial District and Brooklyn’s Dumbo Heights are accepting applications. Last month, WeWork inked a 15-year lease in Astoria.
The company was recently valued at $10 billion.
“There is still incredible demand,” Matt Shampine, vice president of business development at WeWork told Crain’s. “Our community continues to grow as more and more workers seek the energy of the WeWork community.”
The year’s biggest deal is a six-floor space at 85 Broad Street, the former location of the Goldman Sachs headquarters. [Crain’s] — Claire Moses
