For Eliot Spitzer, politics seems to be nothing but a memory. The former governor is now focused on his $700 million, 856-unit residential development south of the Williamsburg Bridge.
Spitzer is planning to release the first look of the project Tuesday, the New York Times reported. The waterfront development will include three towers as well as two rooftop pools and a park with an esplanade.
ODA Architecture’s Eran Chen is responsible for the design, which he called a “molded iceberg, sculpted to create the maximum number of views and outdoor spaces,” according to the newspaper.
A few blocks north, Two Trees Management is developing the Domino Sugar Factory site, but Spitzer doesn’t seem to be worried about the sudden influx of roughly 4,000 units in Williamsburg.
“This is a big bet on a part of the city we believe in,” Spitzer told the newspaper. “It’s a family tradition, and we have a very long-term time horizon.” [NYT] — Claire Moses
