An official design panel tapped by Governor Andrew Cuomo is recommending the creation of a “great hall” at LaGuardia International Airport.

The hall would serve as the main entrance to travelers in the central terminal building, which was built in 1964, according to the New York Post. The recommendation comes as part of a $3.6 billion renovation plan for the airport.

The panel also recommended creating better, more seamless connections between terminals, building a much-needed new air train station and adding a hotel to the grounds.

“The new LaGuardia should include a main entrance to the airport that serves as a great hall welcoming travelers to a great new experience at the airport,” said Patrick Foye, executive director of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. [NYP]Christopher Cameron
