They ain’t playing around. Toys R Us has opted not to renew the lease for its 110,000-square-foot flagship retail space at Charles Moss’ 1514 Broadway in Times Square.
The toy giant plans to vacate the 150,000-square-foot property by February 2016, the same month that the leases for the building’s other retailers such as Foot Locker, Starbucks and restaurant Bond 45 are set to expire, the New York Observer reported. Toys R Us was the only tenant with the option to renew its lease.
Cushman & Wakefield’s Brad Mendelson is marketing the space between West 44th and 45th streets, according to the newspaper.
Sources told the Observer that Toys R Us may relocate to Vornado Realty Trust’s nearby retail space at 1535 Broadway. [NYO] — Mark Maurer
