The United Talmudical Seminary, a Brooklyn-based rabbinical school, revealed plans today for a new classroom and dormitory building in Queens’ Glendale neighborhood.

Permits filed today with the city’s Department of Buildings call for a four-story, 142,183 square foot structure at 74-10 88th Street. The building will have three classrooms and offices on the ground floor. The second through fourth stories will be student housing.

School leaders spoke to the local community board last summer about overcrowding issues that forced them to bus roughly 14 loads of students from Williamsburg every day.

The property owner, YGS Corporation, acquired the manufacturing building at the site in 2003 for $5.6 million and subsequently converted it for school uses. It is unclear whether that structure will remain as part of the new plans.

The architect of record is Mark Mariscal.

Representatives from the school were not immediately available to comment.

Brooklyn-based film and television production studio Brooklyn Stages bought a twenty-one building industrial park in the neighborhood for $19.5 million last month.
