Markus Persson, Swedish developer of the video game Minecraft, didn’t buy a block – just the biggest house on it.
Persson, whose game involves building blocks, paid $70 million for a 23,000-square-foot mansion in Beverly Hills, Calif. The spec home hit the market for $85 million in September.
Beyoncé and Jay Z visited the home several times and offered to pay $70 million, which resulted in a bidding war, Curbed reported.
The property features a 16-car garage, a replica of actor James Dean’s motorcycle and Bentley pillows, according to the listed cited by the website. [Curbed] — Mark Maurer
