Adding yet another property to the hotel-building boom in Queens, developer Barone Management is looking to build a 13-story, 222-key lodge in the Hunter’s Point section of Long Island City, city records show.
Barone filed an application today to erect the 89,676-square-foot building at 9-03 44th Road, a few blocks north of the Queens West mega development.
The property is not directly on the waterfront, but it does face the river and any building on the site would enjoy impressive city views similar to those available at the Ravel Hotel further north.
Parking for 59 cars would be available on the second floor, and the third would hold a bar/restaurant and a pool.
Barone signed a 99-year lease on the property in July for $46,880, property records show. The owner is listed as JMK Realty, Family Limited Partnership.
Queens, and in particular Long Island City, has been leading the outer boroughs amid a surge in hotel development across the city in recent years. The borough has 14 properties in the pipeline through 2017 according to NYC & Company, the city’s official tourism partner.
