The city’s Board of Standards and Appeals made a rare decision to review its approval of the New York Methodist Hospital expansion project in Park Slope.
The board plans to hold a public hearing on Dec. 16 to reconsider its decision in June to grant several zoning variances for the hospital. As part of the expansion, New York Methodist would gain a seven-story, 485,000-square-foot ambulatory care center at 6th Street and Eighth Avenue.
Neighborhood organization Preserve Park Slope filed a lawsuit in July to overturn the board’s decision approving the plans for the ambulatory care facility, as The Real Deal reported. The project would involve the demolition of several low-rise buildings owned by New York Methodist, including five historic brownstones.
