Take a 3D walk through Vornado’s 90 Park

REIT uses Floored technology to create futuristic model of interior space

What’s the point of a multimillion-dollar renovation if you can’t show it off in 3D?

Vornado Realty Trust recently kicked off a major internal overhaul of 90 Park Avenue, a 41-story, 1 million-square-foot tower located between East 39th and East 40th streets. The Steve Roth-led real estate investment trust will spend about $30 million on the project. And to showcase its work it, Vornado hired Manhattan-based 3D software company Floored to create an interactive walkthrough of the space.

The technology, Floored CEO David Eisenberg told The Real Deal, allows Vornado to accurately represent an entire floor, which is tough to do with a batch of renderings. Vornado will use the walkthroughs in sales presentations and in pitches to brokers.

The REIT hired the startup, Eisenberg said, because a large block of space in the tower is hitting the market. The space, he added, is “currently built out with an old installation that makes it challenging to show prospective tenants how the space ‘could’ look.”

The wonks at Floored built the space out in digital 3D, in both furnished and unfurnished models. The result, available on both web and mobile, will evoke nostalgia among fans of first-person PC action games from the 1990s. But for real estate nerds, it’s definitely a glimpse of what’s to come.
