The owner of a single-family mansion on the Upper East Side is going against the trend. He is turning his townhouse into seven luxury apartments.
The palatial home at 35 East 63rd Street was once scoped out by the likes of Robert De Niro and Nicole Kidman, according to the New York Post. A CEO of a hotel chain already rented out a unit in the building — a fourth-floor apartment that spans 2,200 square feet — for $23,500 a month, according to the newspaper.
The third floor of the building has a one bedroom, one-and-a-half bathroom unit that’s listed for $10,000 per month.
The 60-foot-wide townhouse has two elevators as well as a 24-hour doorman.
