Hundreds of hotel rooms will soon be coming online in the Bronx.
Several plans are now in place for new hotel developments across the borough, according to the New York Daily News. The projects come in the wake of the opening of several upscale lodging facilities in the borough in recent years. The Opera House Hotel, for one, which is located on East 149th Street, opened in December.
The Umbrella Hotel — a new 56-room tower in the Melrose section of the Bronx — will start taking reservations for guests at the end of the month, according to the Daily News.
And just last week, developer Sarjay Patel filed plans for a nine-story, 30,000-square-foot luxury hotel at 335 Grand Concourse, near East 140th Street.
In addition, a 12-story hotel is being built at Exterior Street and East 146th Street, a Comfort Inn is planned for a site on East 135th Street and Third Avenue and a Residence Inn by Marriott is being built near the Hutchinson Metro Center in the Pelham Bay section of the borough.
