WEEKENDEDITION Aby Rosen has scored partial demolition permits for his controversial 67 Vestry Street project in Tribeca. The 11-story residential development met opposition in February from the tenants of the site’s existing structure, who attempted to landmark their building, according to Buzzbuzzhome.

“Landmarking this handsome former warehouse would anchor the besieged Tribeca North Historic District nearby and provide visual evidence of a great period in our country’s commercial history,” the resident’s petition stated.

In 2005, Rosen bought the property for $16.5 million, and he’s planning a new 43-unit, 50,162-square-foot development with storage and indoor recreation space for the site.

However, while permits for interior demolition have been approved, Rosen has yet to receive full demolition permits. So perhaps the building’s exterior will be salvaged after all. [Buzzbuzzhome]Christopher Cameron
