The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey is considering a plan that would transform the old TWA terminal at John F. Kennedy International Airport into a hotel.

Officials at the agency seem confident that they can get a developer on board for the project and will issue a request for proposal. The Port Authority issued a similar RFP in 2011 to transform the Eero Saarinen-designed terminal.

A new hotel would fill the need for better lodging at JFK.

“Major airports around the country and the world have first-class hotels, and New York’s major international airport should have one too,” Stephen Sigmund, executive director of the Global Gateway Alliance, told Capital NY. “And it is a particularly good fit for this terminal that is such an icon of flying’s golden age.” [Capital NY] — Claire Moses
